The Ostbelgien Classic 2021 becomes a Qualifying Event for the FIA Trophy for Historic Regularity Rallies!
Even if the second edition of the Ostbelgien Classic, initially scheduled for the beginning of December 2020, has been postponed for a year for obvious health reasons, the future prospects of the event organised by Michael Bartholemy from Eupen and his team remain excellent. So much so that on Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 December 2021, the Ostbelgien Classic will enjoy Qualifying Event status as part of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile’s highly official trophy for historic regularity rallies!
“It’s an honour to obtain such a status after just one edition, and a great acknowledgement of the work accomplished by all team members,” explains Michael Bartholemy. “It means that the way we approach and manage our event not only appeals to the contestants, but also to the international motor sport authorities. This December, the Ostbelgien Classic will therefore be officially observed by the FIA, which is sure to attract even more attention.”
This status as Qualifying Event, with a view to applying as organisers of the FIA Trophy for Historic Regularity Rallies Final in 2022, is likely to increasingly showcase East Belgium, which is a prime location for this type of event. “It’s also a great opportunity for our partners and contestants,” Bartholemy continues. “And rest assured that this new status will in no way change our event’s atmosphere, as it’s precisely that, coupled with the quality of the organisation, that has enabled us to be noticed by the highest sports authority.”
Let it be known, a new countdown has started for the Ostbelgien Classic…
