The first international entries have been announced!

Having received the title of FIA Trophy Historic Regularity Rallies final in 2022, the Ostbelgien Classic is already attracting the attention of the best Regularity experts, even on the international scene. The Eupen-based event will take place on Friday 02, Saturday 03 and Sunday 04 December next, however Michael Bartholemy and the entire ‘The Event’ team are already pulling out all the stops to live up to their prestigious status.

“Indeed, things are moving forward, and we can already announce that the track will be 822 kilometres long, and that once again it has been concocted by Joseph Lambert”, explains Michael Bartholemy.  Agreements are being finalised, particularly with the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.  Sports-wise, no fewer than seven events or tests will be organised on private and closed grounds.  There could be more.  In short, we have already worked out the structure of the event, and that is already a very good thing…”

Even though the Ostbelgien Classic is primarily a sporting event with an international reputation, the public has not been forgotten, far from it.  “We’re going to have a party on the Klötzerbahn’” says the organiser with a smile.  With the help of ‘100.5 Das Hitradio’, based in Eupen, there will be plenty of entertainment on the Friday night and the Sunday night, with a well-known band, soon to be revealed…”.

The first favourites made known

Eight months before the start of the event, the list of participants already includes some very interesting names. Alain Lamberty and Christian Herne, winners of the Light category last December, are now in the Classic + category!  Martin Scheiff and Yves Chantraine, who were already in the top 10, have confirmed their participation, as have Tony Kevers and Didier Gathy, Patrick Van Remoortel and Olivier Dupont, as well as Jean-Jacques Martens and Aswin Pyck, who came in third in 2021, and who have just won the Tour Auto with their Volvo PV444.

Things are also hotting up on the other side of the Channel!  Several British crews who are all used to an extreme event entitled the ‘JOG’, crossing Great Britain from the southwest to the northeast!  Richard Leggett and Daniel Leggett, Michael Moss and James Ewing, Paul Bloxidge and Ian Canavan, Malcolm Dunderdale and Anita Wickins.  The first effects of having the status of final of the FIA Trophy Historic Regularity Rallies 2022 are already being felt!  And this is just the beginning…
